Why self-development is important?

Let’s Keep It Simple!

When I posted the first image of my campaign on social media I realized how hard it is to get real – to be you and let the world know who you really are.

(Maybe it’s just me! Or maybe most people don’t give such thoughts a second chance. Believe me, it took a lot of courage to start this blog and to speak up about the things that I believe should matter the most).

This realization made me think that we all have multiple strategies about how we treat our emotions especially the negative ones like anger, frustration, sadness, and anxiety, and about how we behave around difficult and toxic people in a dissimilar manner.  We continuously manipulate ourselves and eventually get good at hiding how we really feel even from ourselves. In this vicious circle, we gradually lose track of who we really are, who we really want to be or who we really could be.

But remember, you always have a choice. This is where “Art of conscious living” comes in. I am here to remind you and myself alike to not blindly follow, question and redefine the rules on our own terms consciously considering where we are at in our lives and what feels right for us.

You can be anything you want to be in life

You have no idea how much potential you have. I really hope this space not only holds space for myself to explore, learn, grow, share but inspire you to do the same.

We all want to be happy, successful, and content in our lives. We think we have control over our emotions but most of the time we find ourselves carried away with their flow. I am afraid that is not true. What I am trying to say here is, we believe certain things make us angry but there is nothing wrong with those things. The problem is in how we look at them and how we choose to deal with them. We can always change the way we feel about those “certain things” consciously. It’s the definition that you have given yourself that needs some reflection.

It’s much easier to settle for the life you happened to fall into than redesigning the whole thing. We also unconsciously believe that the way we perceive our reality is the only true version. I hate to break it to you, but that is not the case either.

I believe, in order to solve a problem, the realization that there exists a problem is the foremost and important step. The second step is that you are willing to make a change and you are ready to do whatever it takes to bring that change into reality.

If you change nothing, nothing will change

So, what is self-development?

Self-development is one of the most powerful ideas out there to improve the quality of your life by mastering your psychology.

After all, isn’t that what we are all striving for?

My passion for it comes from the effects it has had on my own life. The journey, therefore, counts for a lot more than the destination itself. To me, it is the ultimate way of improving our lives, our societies, the world we live in and most importantly, the world we wish to live in.

It can help achieve the fulfillment and quality that you yearn for. It can bring you peace of mind and with it, it will bring the financial, relationship, fitness, health and security that you want from life. And as you begin to walk on this journey, as you gradually and consistently complete the milestones, you realize that it not only improves your life but also the lives of those around you.

The journey is not easy though. And difficult journeys are seldom undertaken by average people. The average person, I would say, goes through life and does the things they are told to do. He or she does things that are apparent and easy, things that are mandatory to do. But I want something else from life. Doing the best that I can be doing and living the best kind of life that I could be living, however, requires something more than what the average person does. The answer is different for everyone though. And to decipher that for myself and for the readers is the goal of this digital journal.

Why is this important?

Why can I not continue to live as I was doing before all this self-help mambo jumbo came along?

Why can I not just be “normal”?

To answer that, lets first stop lying to ourselves. We are all selfish. I mean, you admit it or don’t but it’s the truth that you are the thing you care most about in life.

There is not even a good deed out there that doesn’t have a personal agenda behind. (If no other reason, you can always find personal satisfaction or happiness behind.) Remember the episode 4 (Season 5) of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, where Joey points this out to Phoebe that there is no selfless good deed?

So, what is more fascinating to you than the study of yourself?

“You” are the thing that you pretty much care about in life.

What else could be more practical than to make conscious decisions?

If not now, then when?

You need to visualize the possibilities and think about the long-term goals you can achieve in life, what true happiness feels like, what real and healthy relationships feel like, what does a real success feel like and so much more along the same lines. Forget what you have taught yourself to feel about yourself, and the world and people around you. Delve deeper within yourself and try to grasp how you really feel.

What your life would look like 20 years down the road when you master yourself and your emotions?

We are evolving continuously, every single day. Why not make this evolution consciously?
There must be a few things that you would like to work on, for instance, I have a pretty long list of things I wish to accomplish in life for myself. Firstly, I wish to build higher self-esteem and a healthy self-image.

In the end, I would just like to stress on one thought, Let’s Grow Together!

Let me know what are things that you would like to work on? Comment down below and share your thoughts, and your struggles. Let’s all crave a path together towards self-mastery and conscious society.
